Supporting THE INNOCENCE PROJECT
We're passionate about making a difference.
The prospect of innocents languishing in prison or, worse, being put to death for crimes that they did not commit, should be INTOLERABLE to every American, regardless of race, politics, sex, origin, or creed. THE INNOCENCE PROJECT is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. As a clinic, law students handle case work while supervised by a team of attorneys and clinic staff. On September 23, 2011 in Charlotte's NoDa district, Degenerate held a benefit event to support the Innocence Project. All of the $10 cover charge went to the organization. Zooey Deschanel's HelloGiggles website helped plug the show. Local comedians and the acoustic-punk band Dollar Signs performed. It was a great night. Future benefits will be held. Please check out the Innocence site and give what you can to support this wonderful organization. --DeVan Penegar |
